Going green just got a bit easier.
The Matchbox brand is continuing down the road of its “Driving Toward a Better Future” initiative that launched for Earth Day last year. The 360-degree program seeks to reduce waste while creating products using recycled materials and sustainable packaging and encouraging greener play patterns.
Today, Matchbox released the first-ever certified CarbonNeutral die-cast car, a 1:64-scale Tesla Roadster that is made from 99% recycled materials and comes in a home compostable tray. Additionally, kids can collect a whole fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) with Matchbox MBX Electric Drivers 5- and 12-pack sets.
Then, the fun gets even BIGGER with the Matchbox Recycling Truck, a large-scale, 15-inch truck made from 80% ISCC Certified plastic.
The MEGA Bloks Green Town line is hailed as the first mass retail toy line to be certified CarbonNeutral by Natural Capital Partners. The collection includes the Build & Learn Eco House, Sort & Recycle Squad, Grow & Protect Farm, and Charge & Go Bus playsets. Kids can learn green behaviors with each set.
All of these new toys are part of Mattel’s effort to be fully sustainable by 2030. Parents looking for tips on green play can check out this new resource hub and the Mattel Playback Program for ways to give new life to old toys.
Families can look for Mattel’s sustainable toys to begin hitting major retailers this spring. The CarbonNeutral Tesla Roadster is available exclusively through Mattel Creations.
